Important Dates/Away Trips

Varsity Charter Bus Trip:

This year’s charter bus trip for the top 14 boys/top 14 girls will be to an overnight meet in Ocoee, Florida.  We will leave 8/29 and race on 8/30. After the meet Saturday, we will spend the day at Disney's Magic Kingdom!  Then we will head back home on Sunday. The cost per person is $375, but any Runathon money raised over $150 will go towards offsetting this cost for each runner.  The runners eligible for this trip will be determined after the season opener Time Trial on 8/2

This year we are adding in a new meet: Twilight at PRville in Huntsville, Alabama. This will be a meet for everyone and this cost is $75 per runner to cover charter bus costs. Any Runathon money raised over $150 will go towards offsetting this cost for each runner.  

 

The Asics Invitational is a Varsity trip that JV can also earn (but prospective Varsity runners need to complete standard #1 below).  For JV to earn the overnight Asics trip in 2025 they must meet ALL of the following requirements:

1. Help with one of 2 workdays on our campus course: 7/31 or 8/6

2. Have no unexcused absences

3. Consistently doing drills/workouts the 2 weeks leading up to the meet and planning on racing. 

4. Have raced at least one 5k during the season 

5. Be healthy and cleared to race in the meet.
    

Coaches retain the right to invite additional athletes to the meet based on exceptional circumstances or the needs of the team.

*May 5th-XC Runner/Parent Meeting-6:30pm at in Commons Area

 *May 18th-Summer Mileage begins

*May 25th-31st-GHSA Dead Week #1. No practice allowed. 

· *June 1st-First day of summer practice-7:30am-Little Mulberry (Fence Rd entrance). Camp deposit due! ($50 or can pay full amount).

  * June 6th-Volunteering at Hamilton UMC Food Pantry. More info TBA. 

· *June 23rd-Tubing in Helen after practice.  More details TBA. 

· June (TBA) – Spiritwear clothing orders. Info will be emailed out.

-June 29th-July 6th-GHSA Dead Week #2. No practice allowed. 

-July 6th-10th-Camp @ Berry College

-Last 2 morning Summer Practices: Monday, 7/20 and Tuesday, 7/21

-Thursday, 7/23-Practice at 3pm at School

-Monday 7/27, Tuesday 7/28-Practice at 3pm at Mulberry

-Thurs 7/31-Practice at 7:30am at the School-First Trail clean up day to earn Asics overnight trip

-August 1st-Time Trial/Team Hangout/Parent Meeting @ School-mandatory attendance! Girls arrive at 6:35, race at 7:45am. Boys arrive at 7:05, race at 8:15am. Parent/Booster Club Meeting in Fieldhouse @ 9:15am. 

- August 3rd-first day of mandatory official practice and make up timetrial. Practice will be 2:30-4:30 Mon-Fri rest of the season. Also Wednesday 8/6 is Last Trail Workday. 

-August ?-Runathon Fundraiser during practice. More details TBA. 

-August ?-Picture Day during practice

-September 10th-Spaghetti Dinner in Atrium at School. 6pm. 

-October 27th-Senior Dinner. More details TBA.
